Why Executive Coaching

As in any field that has seen repaid growth, the credibility of executive coaching has lagged behind the value that it creates.

A recent 2011 Sherpa Executive Coaching Survey showed that 94% of HR professionals and coaching clients see the value of coaching as “somewhat high” or “very high” while the same people give a 78% rating on the same factors when asked about the credibility of coaching.  This is an improvement over previous years and reflects the fact that there is no barrier to calling yourself a coach.

All of the coaches employed by Figment Coaching are members of the International Coach Federation (ICF) and adhere to their ethics and standards and have completed education and certification through formal coaching training programs recognized by the ICF.

In addition, the broad management experience of the individual coaches adds to this education to create an experienced coach with broad business background who can talk the language of executives and understand the pressures that they face.

We applaud our clients who demand training and certifications for their coaches to insure consistency and trust in their coaching.

All involved in the process must understand what coaching is not. It is not meant to be therapy or counseling. Those are valuable services that should be provided by trained professionals in those fields.

"The turbulent and ambiguous nature of the world of work today creates a real opportunity for clients and coaches to work together to create more sustainable and fufilling work places

Coaching helps people in three ways:

First, no-one gets listened to, A coach allows leaders to reflect about their decisions, and about themselves

Second, people usually avoid difficult truths. Coaching brings reality front and center.

Third, people don't know how to change. A coach can guide a client to find replacements for behaviour that's not working."
